Welcome to the UTC STEM Scholars Program:

Thank you for taking the time to fill out this application.   We’re so happy that you’re here.  Young people want to save the world through science and the Global STEM Alliance of the New York Academy of Sciences in partnership with United Technologies Corporation wants to keep motivated students in the pipeline by showing them how real science, technology, engineering, and math experts can make a difference.  We need mentors and students like you who are passionate about these disciplines to join this life-changing opportunity.  The global program pairs high school students with a personal one-on-one mentor over the course of a year through an all virtual, online platform. Sound like something you want to be a part of? Then find more details below.

Become a Mentee:

Are you passionate about science, technology, engineering, or math (STEM)?  Do you want to change the world by solving problems through STEM?  One of the best ways to do that is to have the guidance of an actual expert … a mentor.  We want to pair you with a professional mentor in STEM for free on a virtual, online system where you can participate from anywhere in the world.

To be considered for the program, you must:

  • Be 13-18 years old
  • Have an interest in science, technology, engineering or math
  • You must have reliable internet access and be comfortable communicating and reading in English

Become a Mentor:

We’re looking for STEM professionals, postdocs and grad students for an all-virtual, one-to-one mentorship program to inspire and motivate the next generation of STEM innovators.  By pairing you with a high-potential student, you’ll help them support their passion for STEM, encourage them to pursue their career goals, and help them develop college-readiness and networking skills.

Here are the requirements to be considered as a mentor:

  • You must be working in a STEM-related field, or pursuing a PhD or higher in STEM
  • You must have reliable internet access and be comfortable communicating and reading in English
  •  Most of all, you must be passionate about influencing young people to continue on the STEM track during college and ultimately, to pursue a career in one of the disciplines
